Holiday Week Workouts 2016

For the first time in our courtship and marriage, we're home for Christmas after always going to Nashville.  It's good and it's bad but two good things is that I have more control over my eating and I can work out.

Despite eating too much, I was determined to keep up my workouts this week...  Being off work made it easier.

Monday: Dozois' Rockin Body Cardio

I did my traditional post-vacation workout, Dozois' old dance video, the day after Christmas. Thankfully, I only missed one workout - Christmas Day - so I didn't feel too sluggish.  But I was tired and this one was a bit more difficult to get through.  It's a fun one, though, and that made it worth it.  So, 45 minutes of cardio and then a stretch and crunches.

Tuesday: Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn Remix

Today, I had to jump out of bed and workout, much like a work day.  Thankfully, I got up at 6:45 instead of my usual 5:30.  This workout is a lot of fun but my feet were really hurting, I think from being on my feet in the kitchen so much the previous two days.  Stupid plantar fasciitis.  Ugh!  I dug out my new sneakers and they helped a bit.  So I was able to get through this workout and then added on 5 more minutes of my cardio to get a full hour in.  I then stretched and planked.

Wednesday:  Peak 10 Cardio Strength Remix + Ilyse's Groovy Dance Party

It had been so long since I'd last done this CS Remix that I had no idea what I was getting in to.  And it was tough!  Every circuit, except the last, went to the floor.  Dang!  I definitely got a good workout!  After that 50 minutes, I tuned into Ilyse's dance workout.  I love this one!  And it goes by so fast - 20 minutes!  After that, I stretched and did some ab work.

Thursday:  Amy's Metabolic Meltdown + Total Package

I need something a bit lighter today so I did Amy's level 2 Meltdown - which is still a great workout.  I did almost everything high impact - but didn't jump too high.  Ha!  After that, I tuned into her Total Package workout - a great body strength and cardio workout.  Love it!  And all the floor work really works you hard.  So, 70 minutes for all that, then a nice stretch and ab work.

Friday:  Cathe's Intensity + weights

Cardio time!  Cathy's Intensity is such a great workout, even without the step.  It's fun cardio and then Hi and Lo HIIT.  Dang, what  a workout.  My legs were aching from Amy's endless squats yesterday so this was a bit painful....but good!  After that hour of cardio, I did 10 minutes of weights.  Then, finally, a stretch and abs.

Saturday:  Dozois' Cardio Interval Burn on Glo

I had to get up early today in order to work out so it was a bit rough getting going.  But I did and this workout was definitely not the easiest.  I worked hard and it felt good....  Just thinking about all the food I'd eat over the weekend made me work hard.  Ha!  After I got done, I did a quick stretch and was done!

FitnessGlo Challenge #2: Week Eight

Okay, so things are getting pretty busy as we get closer to the holidays.  Work is also a nightmare so I'm just barely holding things together.  Sigh.

Let's hope I can get in all my workouts...

Monday: Petra's High Intensity Drills + Ilyse's Easy to Follow Dance Moves

As I started moving this morning, I realized I was really sore from Sunday's workout.  My bum and thighs were not happy!  Ha!  But those muscles got a good workout today...  Petra's Drills are not easy but I made it through in one piece.  Next up, Ilyse - so much fun.  I really enjoy her dance videos, this one included.  It was a nice finish to the morning!

Tuesday: Ilyse's Your Best, Sweaty Self + Dance Intervals 101

I wanted to work just a bit harder this morning, so I tuned into one of Ilyse's toughest workouts.  Dang!  You definitely get sweaty in this one, since you never once stop moving!  It was a relief to get to Intervals.....but you never stop moving in that one, either!  Wow!  I jumped, jogged, and jacked all morning long!

Wednesday: Denise's Endurance Challenge + Amy's Combo Strength Conditioning + walk

Today, I wanted to take it down just a notch.  I've had three days of very high intensity workouts so my feet needed a bit of a break.  I kept Denise's workout mostly low-impact and only jogged lightly in place when that came around.  This one is a lot like her Interval Sweat - very, very similar.  After that, I did about 10 minutes of Amy's weighted workout.  At lunch, I walked outside for about 20 minutes - and got a lot of steps!

Thursday: Michelle's Calorie Burning Cardio Blast + HIIT - Breathless and Energized + Scott's HIIT - Sports Inspired Intervals + walk

It was time to work hard today.  So, HIIT!  Yay!  Sigh.  I started with the lesser of Michelle's two evils.  Cardio Blast is fun and it definitely got my heart rate going.  Next up, her HIIT always gets me struggling for breath.  But talk about effective!  And last, Scott's Intervals are fun and not quite as intense, mainly because you get a longer rest period.  At lunch, I walked outside for 20 minutes.

Friday: Jari Love's Get Extremely Ripped! 1000 Hardcore

I'm off for the holidays, as of today.  Yay! I celebrated by working out for longer.  Ha!  I did all of Jari Love's video - which alternates weights and cardio.  It's definitely not an easy workout.  My arms and legs were dying with all the weighted compound exercises.  Dang.  And the cardio is not at all easy.  That lasted for an hour.  I then did the ab work and finally stretched.  Nice!

Saturday: Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn - Fat Blaster + Ilyse's Just Dance

Since I won't work out on Christmas Day, I wanted a good workout today.  So, a CIB it was!  This one is so much fun.  It's also very tough.  But I love it!   I did all the peaks and felt good afterward.  So, then I tuned into Ilyse's dance workout...  I love her fun dances.  This one was good to do after a CIB as it's a bit lighter.  That made for 70 minutes of cardio.  I then did some sit-ups and stretched.

FitnessGlo Challenge #2: Week Seven

After going out of town and eating horribly, I need to get back on track this week.  There will be goodies in the office but I need to be good whenever possible.

That means working out hard!

Monday: vacation

Tuesday: Amy's Metabolic Meltdown + Scott's Multi-Level Cardio Drills + walk

I wanted a slow progression of intensity this morning so this was a good combination.  I did all of Amy's workout which is a level 2.  Whenever possible, I upped the intensity without overdoing it.  Then, I switched over to Scott's Drills and managed some lunge jumps before it was done.  Yay!  At lunch, I walked at the rec center with a co-worker.  After that bout of cardio, I did some sit-ups.

Wednesday: Amy's Intervals + Dozois' HIIT - Breathless and Energized

Today, I needed to step it up a notch.  So, I started with Amy's workout - which is not at all easy.  Eight 20-second intervals with 10 seconds of rest in between.  Whew!  Then, Michelle's HIIT which is extremely hard after another HIIT routine.  Dang!  I definitely felt like I got a great workout this morning.  And a good thing since it was my only workout today.

Thursday: Cathe's Intensity + walk

Cardio, cardio, cardio.  That's my mantra this week.  Cathe's workout is so good if you want to move and keep on moving!  I did the step routine and then the Lo-HIIT, which I made as high-impact as possible.  My head was pounding this morning so this was tough to get through - but I did it!  At lunch, I walked at the rec center again - and again with a co-worker, which makes the time pass so quickly!  Awesome!

Friday:  Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn Remix

I knew this CIB would not get done tomorrow so I did most of it today.  And it is tough at 5:30am.  Whew!  I was able to get through most of it - peaks and all - before I had to quit, 15 minutes before it was over.  But it's such a good workout!  I love this one!

Saturday: REST

Cookie baking day with my mom.

Sunday: Peak 10 More Cardio Strength

I got home at 9:30 from my parents' house and worked out shortly thereafter.  This CS is so hard...it's a struggle to get through.  And I had to modify bits of the last circuit...  My energy was lagging and I felt gross.  But I got through it.  I then did the last 15 minutes of CIB Remix from Friday....and then 10 more additional minutes of cardio, for a total of 75 minutes.  I was exhausted.  I managed 5 minutes with the 12-pound weights and then ab work.....and then a stretch.  Sigh.

Calorie Counts:

Bad.  I had a few good days but all the holiday treats are just too tempting.

FitnessGlo Challenge #2: Week Six

It's that time of year.  There's food everywhere!  I'm not going crazy, by any means, but I'm eating worse than usual.

So, as always, that makes me super motivated to work out.

Monday: Ilyse's Dance Intervals 101 + Groovy Dance Party + walk

Cardio time!  I love Ilyse's Dance Intervals - it gets you going hard and fast.  You jump, jog, and jack for quite a while before you get a break.  And then you keep coming back to it with intervals.  Whew!  After that fun, I did another favorite, Groovy Dance, which I always make as high-impact as possible.  At lunch, I walked the track at the rec center, wanting to burn as many calories as possible.  For some reason, at the end of the day, my bum was aching.  What did Ilyse do to me?!

Tuesday: Amy's Cardio Intervals + Sports Sculpt

Amy got me going this morning with Intervals.  This workout is tough because the intervals are 30, 60, and 90 seconds long.  90 seconds is always longer than you think.  Dang!  After that, Sports Sculpt was a bit lighter but I kept going hard.  There was no lunch-time workout but I went to hear our nutritionist talk, which meant a long across-campus walk.  Then, I had to walk to the other end of campus (literally) for a meeting. So, lots of steps!

Wednesday: Shape's Bikini Body Camp Transforming + Scott's HIIT - Sports Inspired Intervals

I was ready to work hard this morning after a semi-bad dinner last night.  First up, Michelle's cardio from Shape's Transforming workout.  I love this one - it works you hard without killing you - burpees and lunge jumps included.  Dang!  After that, I finished up my morning with Scott's HIIT - always a good choice.  No lunchtime workout but more walking around campus, so that was something.

Thursday:  Ilyse's Your Best, Sweaty Self + Denise's Interval Sweat + walk

This morning started out okay but I soon started feeling very bad. I got through these workouts but it was not easy.  I like Ilyse's workout but it's definitely one of her most intense videos.  Dang.  I skipped the tuck jumps because I felt so bad, I couldn't physically do that.  Instead, I did high knees.  After that fun, I did Denise's workout, which at least alternates all the high impact with some squats.  At lunch, I walked outside in the blistery cold wind.  Fun.

Friday - Sunday: weekend getaway

FitnessGlo Challenge #2: Week Five

It was nice having two days off from workouts at Thanksgiving.  I didn't really want to do that but, oh well.  My body got a break.

Now I'm motivated to work hard whenever I can.  There's always so much going on during the holiday season but we must take time for ourselves to stay healthy and happy.  And, amazingly, I'm always happier when I'm eating right and working out consistently.

Monday:  Amy's Intervals + Kickboxing Skills and Drills

After a horrible night of little sleep, I was very uncertain about these Intervals.  I made a few of them a little....less intense....but managed to get through all of Amy's workout.  The treat, afterward, was tuning into her kickboxing workout.  At its start, there's a lot of cardio and jumping so at least I felt like my hard work continued.  So, a very good morning, despite a sleepless night.

Tuesday: Scott's Boot Camp Burn

This morning, I felt so much better after a good 8 hours of sleep.  It's amazing how much better one can feel!  So I was ready to do weights this morning!   My feet have been protesting all the high intensity, though, so I decided to keep this one low-impact today.  I walked for a while at lunch, but just outside and only for about 10-15 minutes.

Wednesday: Ilyse's Work Hard, Have a Great Time + Dozois' Calorie Burning Cardio Blast + walk

I wasn't looking forward to Ilyse's workout....but thankfully it wasn't as bad as I remembered.   My least favorite move: jumping knee touches.  I don't know why, I just hate those.  After that workout, I tuned into Michelle's quick Blast - always fun and super effective!  I felt well worked after all this.  Ha!  At lunch, I took a 20 minute walk outside, enjoying the crisp (finally!) air.

Thursday: Cathe's Intensity + weights

Today, I wanted cardio.  Cathe seemed like a good idea and she definitely got me going this morning!  Whew!  After the step section, I did the Low HIIT but made it as high-impact as possible.  And it was a good workout, for sure!  At lunch, I went to the rec to do weights, despite a better invitation involving food.  Ha!  Talk about resolve!  And I felt better - if not full - afterward.

Friday: Crunch's Fat Burning Pilates

My only light day for the next three weeks.  I better enjoy this one - and I did!  Ellen Barrett is so much fun and I love this workout.  You will plie yourself to death - but that's a good thing!  I skipped a bit of the standing section to be sure to do all the ab work.  It was a nice, productive morning!

Saturday: Cardio Strength 2 on Glo + Ilyse's Fun and Easy Cardio Dance + weights

I was not looking forward to this CS - but I really wanted to work hard.  So I suffered through it.  Why is it so hard?  There's a lot of tough floor work.  Sigh.  Despite feeling fat and eating too much, I think my fitness level is still up there.  So, yay!  After that 50 minute workout, I tuned into a new-to-me workout by Ilyse - Cardio Dance.  And it was fun and easy!  So, 20 minutes of that followed by five minutes with the 12-pound weights.  Then, finally, a stretch!

Sunday: Cardio Interval Burn on Glo + Amy's Total Package

Lots of cardio today!  CIB was first up.  This Glo CIB gets progressively tougher so there's no point at which you feel better.  Ha!  But it's good - and effective.  After that 55 minutes (ouch!), I tuned into Amy's unique workout just to take it down a notch (my feet were hurting).  Amy works you hard without killing you - nice!  After twenty minutes of that, I did a nice stretch and ab work.

Calorie Counts:

Awful.

FitnessGlo Challenge #2: Week Four

Wow!  I'm almost a month into this Challenge!  That's crazy!  And it's even crazier to think that Christmas is even that much closer.  Eek!

I'm excited that it's Thanksgiving week.  My eating will be horrible but that's fine. You gotta live life sometime.

Monday:  Scott's Multi-Level Cardio Drills + Multi-Level Sports Drills + weights

This morning, after a tough weekend of workouts, I wanted something not quite as intense.  These two workouts are level 2 - so not as jumpy or crazy insane.  I still got a great workout but just didn't kill myself.  Ha!  I must remember that I really don't enjoy the Sports Drills - it's too, too easy.  At lunch, I did weights at the rec center - which was crazy busy.  Dang!

Tuesday:  Ilyse's Full-On Cardio Blast + Denise's Interval Sweat

I wanted to work hard today...and Ilyse almost killed me.  Holy cow!  I always forget how intense this Blast is....but dang!  I got through it - forcing myself to breathe when I didn't think it was possible.  I finished off the morning with Denise's cardio - also intense but with good low-intensity breaks (aka squats and lunges).  Talk about a great morning of Glo!

Wednesday:  Michelle's Calorie Burning Cardio Blast + HIIT - Breathless and Energized + Scott's HIIT - Sports Inspired Intervals + Ilyse's Heart-Pumping Groove

So to kick my own butt this morning, I decided to put all these short HIIT workouts together to make one long HIIT workout.  Okay, ouch!  I was exhausted after the first one and huffing and puffing after the second one.... Thankfully, I saved Scott's for last because his is the most doable.  But, dang!  When I want to work hard, this will do it!  After a short work day, I did 30 minutes of cardio, in the form of Ilyse's low-impact Groove.  I love that one!  This will have to tide me over for two days with no real workout.

Thursday: REST

Friday: REST

Saturday: Scott's Sports-Inspired Drills + Bring It On

It was a miracle that I got a workout in today.  Ugh.  I did both of Scott's workouts.  The first was pure cardio drills - and very typical of Scott's style.  The next had cardio and weight drills, which alternated.  I added on a few extra minutes at the end to get in a full hour of work.  Then, a nice stretch.  I was almost immediately sore.  Ouch.

Sunday:  Cathe's Cardio Core Circuit + McLean's Cardio Hip Hop

And I was still sore this morning.  Wow.  I had to force myself to do Cathe's workout...telling myself that I really needed to burn mega calories.  I got through this one, with no short-cuts. Awesome!  Then, McLean's fun dance routine, which I always try to make as high impact as possible.  So, a total of 70 minutes of cardio.  Ab work and a stretch to finish my morning.

Calorie Counts:

Horrible.

FitnessGlo Challenge #2: Week Three

After another bad weekend of eating - and with Thanksgiving around the corner - I've not lost a bit of motivation to keep working hard.  Ha!

Overall, I'm enjoying this Challenge so far.  It's nice to change things up with different workouts.

Monday: Ilyse's Work Hard, Have a Great Time + Dance Intervals 101 + Sweaty, Sassy, and Strong

I had extra time this morning so I went into this workout hoping to do enough to make up for not walking at lunch.  So, I did 50 minutes of hardcore cardio with Work Hard and Dance Intervals.  Whew!  Those two are definitely tough and contain a bunch of jumping.  Then, I slowed down a bit with Sweaty, Sassy - keeping these 15 minutes low-impact.  It was a nice workout, all in all.  Then, a stretch and sit-ups.

Tuesday: Denise's Super Cardio + Total Body Strengthening

Time for weights today!  I didn't really remember Denise's workouts so it was all a surprise this morning!  Super Cardio is half cardio, half strength. I kept all the cardio low-impact which was lovely this morning.  My body thanked me!  Ha!  Then, Total Body was all strength work - with weights and without.  I was definitely working hard - Denise is no slacker with the weights!

Wednesday:  Amy's Intervals + Scott's Multi-Level Cardio Drills + walk

Okay, I needed to work hard today because my eating was not going to be good.  So, HIIT with Amy - ouch!  And then HIIT with Scott.....  Sigh.  These really got me this morning, especially Amy's workout.  There's just hardly any rest between her circuits.  At lunch, I took a 20 minute walk outside because the weather was beautiful - well, too warm for November but still nice.

Thursday: Ilyse's Ultimate Dance Extravaganza + Dozois' HIIT - Breathless and Energized + weights

I wanted something different today so I tuned into Ilyse's dance workout, which I haven't done in years.  It was fun and different than her other dance workouts - more dance-y, if that makes any sense.  Then, I ended my morning with Michelle's HIIT - always tough and effective.  At lunch, I did weights at the rec center.   Always glad to get that done!

Friday: Crunch Super Slim Down: Pilates Yoga Blend

Today I wanted relaxing and this old Crunch video was perfect.  Ellen Barrett leads you through some yoga sequences to start and then you do some pilates and core work.  I made sure to do all the core - ow!  It was a very nice way to start a Friday!

Saturday: Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn Remix + Denise's Continuous Strength

Time to really work today.  I did one of my favorites, CIB Remix, and had a lot of fun - outside of the peaks.  Ha!  This one always makes me work hard but it also makes me happy.  After that 55 minutes, I did 10 minutes of Denise's strength workout before my arms were screaming and I stopped.  Ouch!  I did a nice stretch and ab work.

Sunday: Cathe's Intensity + Ilyse's Groovy Dance Party

Much cardio was needed today.  Cathe's workout was really good.  I did it all - the step, the HIIT and the Low HIIT.  What a workout!  After that finished (50 minutes later), I did 20 minutes of Ilyse's dance workout.  This one is a lot of fun and easy to make more intense when you want to work harder.  And today I did!  So, 70 minutes of cardio and then, finally, a stretch and planks.

Calorie Counts:

I did pretty good this week - and the weekend.  Wednesday was really bad but the rest was pretty good, under 1200 calories.  Yay!

FitnessGlo Challenge #2: Week Two

After eating horribly last weekend, I'm motivated to work hard.

Monday: Denise's Interval Sweat + Dozois' Work It

Thanks to the time change, I felt almost rested this morning, despite sleeping horribly all weekend.  I wasn't looking forward to Denise's workout because I remembered not liking it during the last Challenge.  But it was straightforward enough to be a blessing this morning- and I enjoyed it.  After that, I tuned into Dozois' light workout, which I tried to make harder by increasing what I could to high-impact moves.

Tuesday: Petra's High Intensity Drills + Amy's Metabolic Meltdown + weights

I can't really say I was looking forward to Petra's workout, but at least I knew what I was getting into, since I did this one last week.  Ugh.  After that fun, I tuned into Amy's workout which has both high and low impact circuits.  I made them high when I could, wanting the added benefit.  At lunch, I did weights at the rec center.....and had to walk in the rain to do so.  So, yay!

Wednesday:  Dozois' Conditioning for Long Lean Muscles

This workout is a lot of fun - basically another BodyFit 360.  Since I wasn't feeling great today, I did my Friday workout on Wednesday!  And I only did about 35 minutes of it.  But I love this one!

Thursday: Scott's Boot Camp Burn + walk

Weights today!  I couldn't really remember Scott's Boot Camp but it was good.  I kept the cardio drills low impact to have a lighter day....but I still got a great workout.  Scott isn't my favorite but I like his no fuss attitude.  At lunch, I walked the block around campus, which takes about 20-25 minutes.  And it was so nice outside!

Friday: Shape's Bikini Body Camp Transforming + Dozois' Calorie Burning Cardio Blast + Ilyse's Sweaty and Sassy Dance Fit + Amy's Core Power

Today was a good workout day!   I started it off with Michelle's cardio on the Bikini video - so good!!  Then, I did her HIIT on Glo, which is really, really good and effective when time is an issue.  In the evening, I tuned into Ilyse's fun dance workout for some low-impact work since I couldn't walk at the rec today.  I don't like this dance as much as some of the others but it was different.  And to end the day - Amy's core workout.  Ouch!

Saturday: Cardio Interval Burn on Glo + Amy's All Around Energy

I was ready to work this morning and this CIB was good!  And tough!  I always think that                     it's not too tough...and then it sneaks up on me.  Whew!  It felt good to work hard, though.  After that 55 minutes, I tuned into Amy's toning/cardio workout, which I really, really like.  After 20 minutes of that, I was done.  Then, after sit-ups, I stretched.  Lovely!

Sunday:  Peak 10 More Cardio Strength + McLean's Cardio Hip Hop

This CS is never one I look forward to.  I have no idea why, but it's just so tough.  Maybe it's because you go to the floor in every circuit except one.  Sigh.  Thankfully, I didn't mind the hard work today but it was not easy.  After that, I did 15 minutes of McLean's fun dance workout.  Then, five minutes with the 12-pound weights followed by a stretch and ab work.  A good day!

Calorie Counts:

I had three good days this week but then I had an all-day conference...and the weekend....  Sigh.  It's frustrating.  However, I was able to get into a pair of my skinny jeans this week...and a blazer that was too tight a year ago.  That makes me extremely happy!

FitnessGlo Challenge #2: Week One

So I've decided to do another FitnessGlo Challenge.  I debated between that, Les Mills, or Cathe (who now has streaming videos)...  But for now, I'm going to do Glo again.  In the new year, I'll do the other two.

This time around, I need to make this Challenge more difficult.  It needs to progress - start a bit easier but get harder and harder.  Last time, while following their Advanced Program, I wasn't always challenged.  That needs to change.

So here we go!

Monday: Dozois' Burn Calories, Release Stress + Ilyse's Heart-Pumping Groove + walk

After four days of very high-impact workouts, I needed to back off just a bit today.  Thankfully, I had these two workouts scheduled for this week so I pushed them to Monday.  Michelle's workout is definitely low-impact and Ilyse's is just fun.  With hers, I had to be careful not to jump.  At lunch, I walked at the rec center with a co-worker.  It's much easier when you have accountability!

Tuesday: Amy's Cardio Combo + Conditioning Drills for Results

It was time for weights today so I tuned into Amy's workout....which I didn't remember from the last Challenge.  It was good - but low-impact so I made it high-impact.  Ha!  I didn't get too far into the second video before my stomach started getting very unhappy.  So, I had to cut this morning's workout short by about 5 minutes.  Ugh.

Wednesday: Petra's High Intensity Drills + Ilyse's Just Dance

My stomach was a bit better this morning - or so I thought.  I tuned into Petra's interval workout......and I can't say that I enjoy this one, but it is effective.  I was huffing and puffing very quickly.  After that workout, I finished off my morning fun with Ilyse, whose dance always makes me smile.  And then....my stomach got very unhappy.  Sigh.  No lunch workout but I walked around campus a lot!

Thursday: Shape's Bikini Body Camp Transforming + Scott's HIIT - Sports Inspired Intervals + weights

Time to work hard today....and thankfully my stomach had no objections.  Yay!  I started off with Michelle's cardio on the Bikini DVD.  Such a good mini-Peak workout!  Then, with my remaining 15 minutes, I did Scott's HIIT - a challenge but not too, too hard.  At lunch, it was a struggle to go do weights on this rainy day, but I did!  I was able to keep my same weights...I just couldn't do as many reps after missing a week.  But I'm so glad I went!

Friday:  Bob Harper's Yoga for the Warrior + walk

I wanted super light today - after seven straight days of cardio - so I chose yoga for my Friday workout!  Bob does a good workout - and he forces in some push-ups which really got me, for some reason.  But it was a nice, light morning.  At lunch, I walked outside for 20 minutes.

Saturday: Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn Remix + cardio

Knowing my eating would be horrible today, I decided to do Peak 10.  I love this workout - it's so much fun!  The peaks are difficult but at least the rest is mostly enjoyable.  After the video ended, I did 15 minutes of my own cardio to work a bit longer.  Then, a nice stretch followed by some ab work.

Sunday: Cathe's Cardio Core Circuit + Amy's Sports Sculpt + weights

I was not looking forward to Cathe's workout...but I did it anyway, knowing I needed a hard workout.  It's tough, all the jumping, but I got through it with a lot of sweat.  After that 45 minutes, I tuned into Amy's workout which lasted an additional 20 minutes.  Then, I did some weights for about 5 minutes, using the 12-pound weights.  Whew!  My stretch afterward was very nice (the sit-ups, not so much).

Calorie Counts:

Ugh.  So the weekend was horrible for eating.  Horrible!  Any weight I'd lost since vacation got put right back on, I think.   The week wasn't too bad; I had some good days.  But.....ugh.

FitnessGlo Challenge: Week 8

It's already been eight weeks?!  Holy cow!

I've really enjoyed changing things up with this Challenge.  I've enjoyed it so much that I'm thinking of doing it again this year - instead of another Combat Challenge.  We'll see.  In the meantime, it's time to get to work.  I need all the help I can get this summer!

Monday: Petra's High Intensity Drills + Ilyse's Just Dance + walk

I need to up my cardio game this week to burn off some calories, stat!  Petra's workout is a challenge because of the length of the drills - 45 seconds.   Eek!  But I got through it and then had fun with Ilyse's dance workout.  This one isn't my favorite but it's fun and light - though I tried to jump as much as possible.  At lunch, I walked at the rec center.  Quickly.

Tuesday:  Denise's Cardio and Sculpt Challenge

This morning was rough after a bad night of sleep.  I decided to keep this workout low-impact since I've been jumping so much lately.  And it was good.  I lifted my heels and barely let my feet lift off the ground for the jogs and jump ropes.  The weights were good, too.  I did my own cardio once Denise went to the floor but I still got a good workout!

Wednesday:  Ilyse's Your Best, Sweaty Self + Dance Intervals 101

I was ready to work hard this morning and Ilyse's workouts were great.  Unlike a lot of my recent Glo workouts, these are not circuit based.  You go, go, go....and go.  Ilyse is relentless in both workouts and it gets tiring jumping and jogging continuously.  Ha!  But it felt good and I was glad to work hard.

Thursday:  Scott's Athletic Burn + Dozois' HIIT - Breathless and Energized

Extra cardio - intense cardio - was needed this week.  Sigh.  Scott's workout was new-to-me and it was good.  The circuits were different lengths which kept me guessing.  I skipped the burpees but did everything else.  Dozois' HIIT is always great - and had me huffing and puffing more than Scott's longer workout.  Ha!

Friday: Dozois' Body Fit 360 + weights

I love Friday workouts.  They mean something light or yoga-y for me.  Today I decided on Michelle Dozois' original Body Fit 360.  It's so good.  Because I wanted a really good stretch today, I did the first 25 minutes of cardio and then skipped to the ab section and, finally, the great stretch.  Love it!  At lunch, I finally made it to the rec for weights - after skipping it last week.  Thank goodness for my motivated co-worker, who helped get me over there!

Saturday:  Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn Remix + McLean's Cardio Hip Hop

Even though I'm not in peak form, I was looking forward to this CIB today.  I just love it!…outside of the peaks.  Ha!  Michelle works you hard but you also have a lot of fun.  And that's why I love her style.  After that 55 minutes, I tuned into McLean's dance workout for 15 minutes.  Whew!  I made it high impact and just kept on sweating.  After all that, a nice stretch and ab work.

Sunday:  Peak 10 More Cardio Strength + Petra's Target All Your Angles

This is my least favorite Peak 10 workout and today it really kicked by butt.  I struggled through the floor work when it came up….in every single circuit but one.  Sigh.  When the end finally came, I was glad….and exhausted.  After that (50 minutes), I only got through about 15 minutes of Petra's workout.  I wish I could have done more….but I stretched and did sit-ups instead.

FitnessGlo Challenge: Week 7

This week started out a bit rough, with some stomach issues.  But I quickly got back into the swing of things.  And considering my eating, I needed to be able to work hard.

Monday: Crunch's Fat Burning Pilates + Scott's Tone, Tighten and Firm

This morning, I wasn't feeling well.  Later in the day, I did about 15 minutes of Ellen Barrett's Pilates video.  I hadn't done this one in forever and it's so good!  Then, I did Scott's weight workout - all 20 minutes.  Dang, triceps!  I used the 12-pound weights when I could and definitely felt it!

Tuesday: Dozois' 30 Minute Boot Camp + Ilyse's Heart-Pumping Groove

I was almost back to normal today but I wanted to take it a bit easier than usual.  So, I did Michelle's level 2 boot camp - which is basically a bit slower than a level 3.  It was still a good workout, though I skipped the burpees.  Next up was Ilyse's fun dance workout.  Mr. Higgins laughed at me as he ate his breakfast.  I'm glad I can provide some comic relief at 6am.

Wednesday:  Amy's Bootcamp Blast + Scott's HIIT - Sports Inspired Intervals
+ walk

My week is all screwed up as far as weights go - so I did them today with Amy's workout.  I think I'd done this workout before but I can't remember....  It was good!  After that, I did Scott's HIIT - always effective!  At lunch, I walked at the rec center, unable to bring myself to do weights.  Ugh.

Thursday: Scott's Multi-Level Cardio Drills + Amy's Intervals + walk

It was hard to get going this morning but Jeffrey Scott made me move - and very quickly! This was a good set of drills - much like his others.  After that ended, I did 15 minutes of Amy's intervals - always super effective.  At lunch, I walked at the rec center.  It was a challenge to do that today because of meetings but I made myself!

Friday:  Scott's Boot Camp Burn + Shape's Bikini Body Camp Transforming

This morning, I had a few extra minutes so I tried to put them to good use.  I did about 35 minutes of Scott's cardio/weight drills in Burn.  Then, all 20 minutes of Dozois' cardio in Bikini.  It made for a very effective morning workout, all in all!  Even though the Bikini cardio is a bit more basic than Dozois' later workouts, it's still tough!  Hello lunge jumps in the last circuit!!

Saturday: Michelle's Cardio Interval Burn on Glo + Ilyse's Power Stretch

I pulled two hamstrings yesterday, somehow.  I have no idea.  But I hurt.  I did 65 total minutes of cardio this morning - all of the CIB plus my own cardio to get a good, long workout.  This CIB is definitely different from the others but very, very effective.  Whew!  Afterward, since I was so sore, I did Ilyse's 10-minute stretch, wanting to be forced to stretch well and long.  Ab work finished off my morning.

Sunday:  McLean's Tabata - Get Gloing with Tabata-Inspired Drills + Amy's Cardio Combo

Wow, so I finally found a workout of McLean's that I can tolerate.  This one wasn't easy and I had to modify just a bit but it was doable and almost un-hateable.  LOL!  He alternates a weighted move and then a cardio move - each done 20 seconds.  After that 45 minutes, I tuned into Amy's level two workout - also a nice combination of weights and cardio.  That lasted 30 minutes.   I then did five minutes of core work followed by a nice stretch.  My hamstrings are still annoyed with me.

Bad.  So, so bad.

FitnessGlo Challenge: Week 6

I'm really enjoying my FitnessGlo Challenge.  It's nice to do some different workouts by new-to-me instructors.  And I can't believe I only have three weeks left to go!

Monday: Ilyse's Your Best, Sweaty Self + Denise's Interval Sweat

This is one of Ilyse's toughest Glo workouts.  She makes you do two sets of star hops (known to most of us as air jacks) and knee tucks.  Yikes!  I did the entire workout and then switched over to Denise's interval workout.  It's good but her cardio just seems to always be the same.  I skipped a lunch workout, walking outside for about 10 minutes instead.

Tuesday: Amy's Kickin' Cardio and Conditioning + walk

Time for some weights today!  I was actually looking forward to Amy's workout today, though I get this one confused with her other two that are similar.  But it was good!  Except for the push-ups: three 45-second sets.  Whew!  At lunch, I walked at the rec center and I'm so glad I got out of the office!

Wednesday:  Petra's High Intensity Drills + Dozois' Calorie Burning Cardio Blast

Time to work this morning!  And I wasn't too thrilled, either, since I was sore from something yesterday.   Bleh.  Petra's workout definitely works you but at least it's a bit different than others.  Michelle finished off my morning...  Even when I'm not looking forward to the workout, she makes me happy.

Thursday: Scott's Sports-Inspired Drills + Ilyse's Groovy Dance Party + weights

I decided to skip the weights this morning so I'd have more energy for them later in the day.  So, cardio!  Scott's Drills are nice because they aren't too intense.  I worked as hard as possible, though, and felt good!  Next up: Ilyse's dance, which always me happy.  This one is a favorite.  At lunch, I was off to the rec for weights.  Always happy to get those over and done with!

Friday:  Dozois' Conditioning for Long Lean Muscles

It's been so long since I had a light Friday workout...and I so enjoy these days!  I opted for Michelle's workout because it provides light cardio, toning, arm work, and ab work.  Because I wanted no impact today, I skipped about 10 minutes of the cardio in order to stretch more at the end of the workout.  A great morning!

Saturday:  Dozois' Cardio Strength 2 on Glo + Scott's Bring It On

I really needed to work hard today.  Starting with CS 2 on Glo, I was working hard before I knew it!  Ha!  This CS is definitely tough - Michelle takes you to the ground a lot.  But I survived!  Next up, Scott's cardio + weights.  I like this workout but some of the weighted repetitions get hard for me.  At least I know it's doing something!  So, 80 minutes of cardio and weights today!  Wow!  Then, a nice stretch and ab work.

Sunday: Cathe's Intensity + Ilyse's Cardio, Strength, and Stretch

Today, cardio.  And a lot of it.  I did all of Cathe's Intensity and then added on 10 minutes of my own cardio for 60 minutes total.  I was sore from something yesterday so all the squats were definitely felt.  Ouch!  Then, I did 15 minutes of cardio from Ilyse's workout - more squats and squat jumps.  Dang!  I did her standing ab work and then had a nice stretch.  Talk about working hard!

Calorie Counts:

It's best that we not talk about that.

FitnessGlo Challenge: Week 5

Wow, another month of Glo to go!

With all my horrible summer eating, I need to work out like crazy.  Here we go!

Monday: Amy's Cardio Intervals + Kickboxing Skills and Drills + walk

There need to be a lot of cardio this week.  Today, Amy's Intervals - always fun and challenging.  Doing one high impact move for 90 seconds is never easy!  Then, Amy's kickboxing - so very different from Combat but very fun!  At lunch, I walked at the rec center - and then did some serious ab work.

Tuesday:  Petra's Circuit-Style + weights

Normally, Petra's easy weights/cardio workout would have annoyed me.  I didn't feel challenged or productive.  But I think I really needed a lighter morning...and her workout was light.  Almost all the cardio was low-impact and I kept it that way.  I even used lighter weights so my weights at work would be more effective - and they were!  So it turned out to be a productive day, after all!

Wednesday:  Ilyse's Work Hard, Have a Great Time + McLean's Kickbox Your Way to Fit

No, I did not have a "great time" with Ilyse but parts of this workout were fun.  It's definitely not my favorite since it's geared more toward athletic cardio (i.e. non-stop jumping and hopping) but at least it was effective.  After that, I tuned into McLean's kickboxing workout.  I always forget about the lunge jumps that happen at the beginning of the workout.  Ouch!

Thursday:  Scott's Boot Camp Burn

This was my second time through this workout and I didn't really remember it from the first time.  Alternating between cardio and weights, it's good without being too intense, though it's a level 3.  Jeffrey uses a ball for some exercises so I subbed a lighter weight.  Just like Denise Klatte, Scott seems to follow the same formula for the majority of his workouts.  At least he's predictable!

Friday:  Ilyse's Full-On Cardio Blast + Amy's Wonderful Cardio Blast

Family obligations mean I won't be able to work out tomorrow so my Saturday workout had to happen today.  I needed serious cardio and Ilyse delivered.  So much jumping!  Whew!  After that one, I tuned into Amy's workout...but I didn't follow it too closely since she uses a ball in this one.  I did the high-impact moves and then tried to keep my heart rate up as Amy did ball stuff.  Ha!

Saturday: REST

Sunday: Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn - Fat Blaster

I wanted to really work today so a Peak 10 workout fit the bill.  I really do love this CIB - there are a few circuits that are just plain fun.  And then some are very challenging, so it's a good mix.  I did a total of 60 minutes of cardio.  Then, five minutes of work with the 12-pound weights, a good stretch, and sit-ups.  So, about 75 minutes of work today.  Cool!

Calorie Counts:

My eating has not been great.  I'm only getting about two or three days of healthy eating in - below 1200 calories.  But it's the summer and I'll have to buckle down again all too soon.

FitnessGlo Challenge: Week 4

I'm almost halfway through this Challenge.  Wow!  I'm enjoying it so far, with only a few gripes about the program.

Monday: Amy's Intervals

I really enjoy this workout that Amy has designed.  It's different from the other HIIT workouts - in a good way!  It's a challenge but with little dread factor.  I only got in this 30 minutes today.  Life happened and it was uncontrollable.

Tuesday: Denise's Cardio and Sculpt Challenge + walk

So this workout seemed very familiar....because, I'm learning, all of Denise's workouts are very, very similar. Sigh.  This one had some good cardio in the beginning (she used a medicine ball; I did not) followed by some good weighted exercises.  After her push-ups, I did my own cardio and weights since she turned to core then.  At lunch, I walked at the rec, wanting to burn more calories!

Wednesday: Dozois' Calorie Burning Cardio Blast + HIIT - Breathless and Energized + Scott's HIIT - Sports Inspired Intervals + walk

Desperate for serious cardio, I strung together three HIIT workouts this morning - all of which are among my favorite workouts on Glo.  Michelle got me started with the lighter of her two HIITs - Calorie Burning.  So much fun!  Then the more difficult HIIT - Breathless, followed by Scott's HIIT.  His is easier only because the breaks are longer.  I felt well worked out after those three!!  Ha!  At lunch, I walked at the rec center.  So much eating out means I need all the calorie burning I can get.

Thursday:  Scott's Multi-Level Cardio Intervals + Denise's Total Body, Total Sculpt + weights

At first, I was worried about Scott's workout, which utilized a medicine ball.  I didn't use a ball and then the ball wasn't used again after the warm-up.  Yay!  This proved to be a good interval workout. Cool!  Denise's weighted workout was like the rest - but at least it's quick and effective.  At lunch, I did weights at the rec.  Fun.

Friday:  BodyFit 360 Vol 2 - Dance Conditioning

Due to crazy morning events out of my control, I had only 30 minutes to work out.  So I did 20 minutes of the dance in Michelle's Dance Conditioning…and then the full stretch.  I wanted that stretch!  And it was very nice!

Saturday: Scott's Cardio Drill Awesomeness + Get Your Circuit On + Ilyse's Fire Up the Six Pack

I didn't know whether to dread this morning, so that was nice.  Scott's Cardio Drills (cardio alternating with weights) was a good level 3  - though not really a challenge for me.  What is challenging about Scott is the number of weight reps he does.  Whew!  His Circuit was a level 2 and a bit easier - so I tried to make it harder.  So many reps, though….geesh!  All in all, 70 minutes of weights and cardio.  After a nice stretch, I did Ilyse's ab workout.  Her core workouts are difficult!  I barely got through the first half of this one!

Sunday: Cathe's Cardio Core Circuit + Amy's Metabolic Meltdown

As usual, I dread Cathe's Circuit workout.  Ugh.  But I wanted cardio so I made myself do it.  And I survived!  Yay!  After that 40 minutes, I tuned into Amy's workout for 25 minutes of additional cardio.  I was tired after all this!  I stretched and did my sit-ups.  Whew!

Calorie Counts:

This week has not been good.  I had a few good days but that was it.  Sigh.

FitnessGlo Challenge: Week 3

We're back from the July 4th holiday, when I ate way too much.  But it was all fun, and fun was needed, so it's fine.

The excessive summer heat is making everything almost unbearable, including working out indoors.  The house is so much hotter.   Ugh.  But this new Challenge is keeping me motivated - new workouts are good!

Monday: REST

The holiday meant a rare day off!

Tuesday:  Denise's Super Cardio + Total Body Strengthening

Weights today.  Ugh.  Denise's Super Cardio was mostly weights, after a cardio warm-up.  That warm-up, though, was non-stop!  Whew!  Jump rope, run, jack, plyos....  I was glad to do weights!  After this one ended, I moved on to her shorter Strengthening workout, which was all weights.  I was sweating like crazy throughout this workout!!

Wednesday: Cathe's Intensity + walk

My one complaint about this Glo Challenge: all the weights.  This program would have you do weights practically every day.  And I don't understand that, especially from people who should know better.  I was desperate for cardio so I chose to throw in Cathe's workout - though I hate doing it in the morning.  It's tough but at least I feel like I worked hard!  At lunch, I walked at the rec center.....  Always proud of myself for doing that bit of extra.

Thursday: Ilyse's Dance Intervals 101 + Powerhouse Cardio

Ilyse's dance workout was not in the Challenge but I needed cardio!  And it was nice to do one of my favorites.  Powerhouse was in the Challenge program...and it uses weights.  Sigh.  I didn't use them - I did the cardio instead.  And Ilyse did tons of cardio with and without light weights so it worked out fine!

Friday:  Denise's Medicine Ball Blast + Amy's Complete Body Sculpt + weights

I won't lie - these videos were disappointing.  For Denise's, I don't have a medicine ball so I used a 6-lbs weight occasionally but otherwise used this video for cardio.  Denise's cardio, from what I've witnessed so far, is very unimaginative.  Shuffle, jump rope, jack, squat jump.  Over and over.  Amy's workout was good but it had a lot of floorwork which I can't do easily in the mornings.  So I only did the standing work.  Sigh.  At lunch, I did weights at the rec.

Saturday:  Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn Remix + McLean's Cardio Hip Hop + Amy's Core!

Peak 10 today!!   Yay!  I love this CIB and it was fun today!  I sweated like crazy and worked hard - a great feeling!  After that 55 minutes of cardio, I tuned into McLean's dance workout - one of my faves.  And always fun!  I got in 15 minutes of that before a nice stretch.  Then, Amy's core workout…..tons of crunches.  Ouch!  A great day!

Sunday:  McLean's Test Your Limits + Scott's Calorie Bursts for Calorie Burn

I was dreading weights today with McLean.  This workout looked tough and it was.  I skipped the burpees, doing other cardio instead, and I had to shorten some of the floor work.  I wanted more cardio!!  Scott's workout was heavy on the weights, which was good.  So, 65 minutes of weights/cardio.  I then stretched and did some abs.

Calorie Counts:

I had several good days this week.  Thursday was really bad, as was Sunday.  I weighed on Sunday, before the day started, and my weight wasn't too, too bad.  Sigh.
